Scanela uses AI technology to analyze photos of food and ingredients and suggest recipes. The app is designed to inspire cooking and help reduce food waste.
Recipes and ingredient suggestions are generated by artificial intelligence (Claude by Anthropic and Spoonacular). They may not always be accurate, complete or suitable for your situation. AI responses can contain errors and should not be used as the sole source for cooking decisions. Scanela takes no responsibility for incorrect AI responses. Always use your own judgment when preparing food.
Scanela is NOT a medical or dietary advice service. The app does not account for food allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions or health conditions. Always check ingredients carefully if you have any allergies or special dietary needs. We are not responsible for any health issues arising from recipes suggested by the app. Never use the app as the sole check for serious food allergies.
Scanela offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged in advance per period. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancellation is done through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's respective policies.
You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Your saved recipes and account data are stored securely via Firebase. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at scanela.ai@gmail.com.
Recipe images are fetched from Unsplash and used under their license. Photos you take with the app are sent to Claude AI for analysis and are not stored on our servers. Images you manually add to saved recipes are stored in Firebase Storage linked to your account.
We collect only the minimum data needed to provide the service — your email address, saved recipes, pantry and dietary preferences. We do not sell your data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for more information.
Scanela is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for any damages, losses or accidents arising from use of the app or its recipe suggestions. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the subscription in the past 12 months.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Scanela. Within the EU the age is 16 in accordance with GDPR. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the new terms.
